On June 29th, project coordinators thyssenkrupp Marine Systems received funding of €13.2 million from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy for the second phase of the "Modifiable Underwater Mothership", where EvoLogics will work on MUM2navigate.
MUM is a modular kit for extra-large unmanned underwater vehicles. During phase one, EvoLogics developed the PingGuin AUVs to accompany the MUM vehicle’s mission as an intelligent swarm and form adaptive network configurations depending on the state of the subsea environment.
The MUM2navigate project aims to take the next innovative leap and develop a special MUM module with a cutting-edge multi-docking system. The system will be capable of accommodating a swarm of 5-6 AUVs, deploying them into operation, and recovering them at the end of the mission to recharge and exchange data.
