The I-CALL project aims to develop an ultrasound based, multi-channel, safe and reliant system, to enable the data exchange among implants inside the human body. The signals are generated end received using specialized transducers that have been miniaturized so that they are integrated directly into the application specific integrated circuit (ASIC). As a result, bio-compatible and stable communication in the long term should be possible, that facilitate better patient care. This is a relevant development for the increase of performance of neuroprothesis, since they require the parallel transmission of multiple data streams.
