At the center of the joint research project “MiRo-Base” are unmanned underwater vehicles. This project is intended to develop a concept for a novel mini-ROV (remotely operated vehicle) system, create a prototype and validate the concept with two different test vehicles.

In addition to the system components, the consortium is working on development methods for this special class of cyber-physical systems to achieve both high technological quality and high efficiency during development.

With “MiRo-Base”, the consortium seeks to position itself as a provider of a complete vehicle, “Mini-ROV made in Germany”, on the global market of underwater technology. To this end, several SMEs and scientific partners have come together under the coordination of the “Mini-ROV - Competence Network for Mobile Underwater Inspection Tools” of the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD.
